Public Transportation
The Fairfax Connector bus service route (Route 622) runs through the Penderbrook Community to the Vienna Metro Station.
Electronics Recycling
Fairfax County residents can e-cycle old or unwanted electronics any day of the week at both the I-66 Transfer Station and the I-95 Landfill Complex. Acceptable materials include computers (and related equipment), televisions, gaming systems, stereos and other household electronic devices and cables. There are no fees associated with this service; however customers may be required to show proof of residency.

Glass Recycling
Fairfax County no longer accepts glass bottles and jars in the curbside recycling program. Residents should reuse glass containers or bring them to purple, glass-only recycling containers located throughout the region. Click here to find a drop off sites throughout Northern Virginia.
Textile Recycling
Fairfax County is excited to announce the launch of its new Textile Recycling Pilot Program. The Department of Public Works and Environmental Services is partnering with Helpsy, a corporation with a mission to extend the useful life of clothing. As part of this program, residents can recycle clothing, shoes, and other household textiles by using the blue collection bins located at the I-66 Transfer Station. Composting Drop-off
Fairfax County's Solid Waste Management Program (SWMP) accepts food scraps for composting at two County facilities: the I-95 Landfill Complex and the I-66 Transfer Station. These sites are open seven days a week, Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. You can drop off your food scraps into one of the bins located in the designated drop-off areas (example shown below). Farmers Market
There's nothing like the taste of a fresh tomato or a juicy peach to bring out the flavor of summer. From May to November, Fairfax County's 11 farmers markets come to life with a feast for the senses. The vibrant colors of freshly picked fruits and vegetables contrast with the fragrant perfume of cut flowers. The aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries floats across the market while patrons savor samples of creamy artisan cheese. You will also find fresh eggs, meats and other edible delights along with gardening plants of all sizes. All products sold are produced by vendors within 125 miles of Fairfax County, and brokers or resellers are strictly prohibited.
